Dayara Bugyal is a beautiful and vast high altitude meadow undulating from 3050m to 3300m in altitude. Camping experience on this trek is one of the finest experiences that one can have on Himalayan treks of similar difficulty. The spectacular view from the top includes Bandarpoonch, Draupadi-ka-danda, Srikanth, Rudragaira, Gangotri I,II,III, Jaonli, Black peak and many other unnamed peaks.
The Dayara Bugyal trek is short and easy paced. It is suitable for people of all ages and interests. Highlights of this trek are villages, forests, meadows and excellent Himalayan views. For first timers, families with kids and even experienced trekkers, this trekking route is apt for all. This trek can be undertaken almost throughout the year. In the summer months the meadows are lush green and carpeted with wild flowers, whereas in the winter months the possibility of a snow experience is very high.
Take an early morning start from Rishikesh, drive about 7 hours to reach Barsu/Uttarkashi, overnight at guest house.
The trek will be largely uphill. The initial part is bit stiff which will become gradual once we leave the village paths. Trek through forests of Oak and Rhododendrons. The camp is at Barnala meadows which is a beautiful grassland that has views of the Himalayas. Some of the prominent peaks visible would be Draupadi-ka-danda, Srikanth, Rudragaira, Gangotri range and Jaonli
We would cross through the Barnala meadows and enter a forest. A constant uphill trail will lead us to the Dayara Bugyal Meadows. These meadows are among the finest high altitude meadows. In the winter months these meadows get a lot of snow, and in the summer/fall season one can experience beautiful grasslands that are full of colourful Himalayan flowers.
Early morning hike to the Bakariya top which gives a vantage 360 degrees view of the surrounding peaks and the Assi Ganga valley. After spending some time on the summit we return to Dayara Bugyal camp for a relaxed afternoon at leisure. Overnight at camp.
We trek on the other side of the Dayara bugyal ridge and descend through forests and small meadows to reach Raithal road head. Board waiting transport and drive a short distance to Barsu. Overnight at Guest house.
Drive out from Barsu and head towards Rishikesh where our services end.
